Meet our Senior Global Operations Associate, Campbell Stark

What do you do at Beacon?

In my job as a Global Operations Associate, no two days are the same. I manage and oversee our customer’s shipments, ensuring we provide an exceptional level of service. Whether this be air, road or sea operations, I am a part of a team that is responsible for customer relationships and navigating the complexities of international trade. 

I joined Beacon in October 2019 at an early stage of the company. Since then it has been full steam ahead with rapid growth in the operations team to provide our customers with the best experience and service. 

At Beacon the opportunities to learn and grow are endless. The team of associates don’t just perform the normal functions of a freight forwarder, we are actively encouraged to get involved in ongoing projects and think about things differently. One of the projects I have supported is the build of our back office Task Management System which contextualises what task has to be done at what stage of the shipment. This was a fantastic opportunity to work across different functions such as the engineering and product teams, coming together to build an efficient and scalable tool.

What did you do before Beacon?

I’ve always had a passion for transport and logistics. I was fortunate enough to grow up working in the family business of marine engineering, ship repair, and transport in New Zealand. From a young age I worked in and around the port during weekends and holidays, whilst throughout university, driving truck and trailer loads of frozen seafood from the port to cool stores in the city.

Upon finishing University I worked for a freight forwarder where I had the opportunity to work across multiple functions of the business, including air and ocean. This gave me a great exposure to the different types of skills and responsibilities required for being successful as a full multimodal freight forwarder. Moving to London in 2019, I wanted a diverse and challenging role. When I found Beacon, the company, culture, and people ticked all of the boxes!

Why did you join Beacon?

Coming from a traditional freight forwarding background, the prospect of joining a company  aiming to streamline the complexities of global trade with technology, brought an exciting challenge I wanted to be a part of. 

After meeting with several of the team and discussing Beacon’s vision, it was clear that this was the environment I would thrive in. I could feel this was the beginning of something big. With the experience of our founders and leadership team, matched with the high calibre of each individual, Beacon was an opportunity not to be missed!
